Member Benefits

The Telecommunications Association of Michigan is Michigan's only trade association serving telecommunications, Internet, wireless, and information technology industries.  Membership is divided into four categories and is open to any qualifying company.  Below you will find a great deal of information about the benefits of association membership for Categories II-IV.  Category I benefits are not included since that classification is only open to incumbent local telecom companies.

Benefits for all Member Categories

The Association distributes information to help member companies prosper in Michigan. These include:

1)  A directory of Association members and associated industry organizations,
      online by password access, and in print
2)  Weekly newsletters by email
3)  A Web page with links to members' sites

Educational meetings are offered on business, regulatory, technical, and customer service topics.  Members with expert knowledge may be asked to make presentations.  Major events include:

1) PoliTech, March 10 - 11, 2009, Radisson Hotel, Lansing, MI
2) Convention, September 16 - 18, 2009, MSU Kellogg Conferece Center, East Lansing,MI
3) Midwest Telecommunications Expo, October 27 - 29, 2009, Fort Wayne,
     Indiana (Grand Wayne Center)

The Association advocates legislative and regulatory positions for the industry.  It effectively employs strong grassroots activity and assists legislators who support its goals through its political action committee, TELEPAC. Members may get involved in grassroots activities, and serve on committees.

Members can serve on committees and help shape Association efforts in legislative advocacy, regulatory affairs and educational programming.


Benefits for Category II Members - In addition to those listed above
(Competive Local Exchange Carriers)

*  The Association participates in state and national regulatory and judicial proceedings, and watches developments in laws and regulations that effect its members. CLECs receive regular advisories and may participate in educational sessions that help them with state and national regulations.

* CLEC members can benefit from networking opportunities at Association functions, including product demonstrations, exhibitions, golf outings, receptions, and committee meetings.

* Annual dues: $2,250.00, invoiced in January each year.  New members, joining January - June are responsible for full year dues.  Those joining July - December are responsible for 1/2 year dues ($1,125.00), plus dues for the following full year ($2,250.00) or $3,375.00.


Benefits for Category III Members - In addition to those listed above
(Telecommunications service providers, except local exchange carriers)

*  All telecommunications service providers benefit from the association's participation in state and national regulatory and judicial proceedings.  The Association watches developments in law and regulation that affect the telecommunications industry.

* Telecommunications service providers network at Association functions, including exhibitions, golf outings, receptions, and committee meetings.

* Annual dues: $1,200.00, invoiced in January each year.  New members, joining January - June are responsible for full year dues.  Those joining July - December are responsible for 1/2 year dues ($600.00), plus dues for the following full year ($1,200.00) or $1,800.00.

Benefits for Category IV Members - In addition to those listed above
(Consultants, Suppliers)

*  The Association helps Category IV members publicize independent marketing efforts.  We provide digital member lists, and make announcements of Category IV member events in our weekly e-mailed update, Friday Newsline, and on our Web site.  Category IV members are often asked to present information at Association meetings and to display products at various events.

* Annual dues: $450.00, invoiced in January each year.  New members, joining January - June are responsible for full year dues.  Those joining July - December are responsible for 1/2 year dues ($225.00), plus dues for the following full year (450.00) or $675.00.
